I was born in Kingston upon Hull, England and was raised on a mixed musical diet of everything from Bacharach to Beethoven. I was always tapping along to songs and that eventually led me to start taking drum lessons. As my interest in composition and songwriting grew I soon realised that being a drummer would probably be limiting so I decided to learn to play the guitar.
I am mainly self-taught although I studied for a while under Peter Wiltschinsky of the classical guitar duo "Hill/Wiltschinsky".
I recorded my early songs on a four track "Portastudio" which gave me experience in arranging and mixing music and I always tried to produce a good overall sound even using limited equipment.
Over the years I have played numerous concerts in England and Europe and recorded in various studios. I have songs produced by Gary Langan (The Art of Noise, Spandau Ballet, Yes), Tony Tavener (Duran Duran, Jeff Beck, The Jam) and Bob Pridden (The Who, Eric Clapton). Musicians that have recorded with me include John Entwistle (The Who), Steve Pigott (Living in a Box, Mike and the Mechanics, 10cc) and guitar virtuoso Gordon Giltrap. I was also involved in producing girl band Milan and I played some gigs with U.S. artist Richard Morris. I am currently playing guitar and keyboards with Spanish pop/rock band Buenas Intenciones as well as writing new songs. Ian.
